E is for Eulogy

In Loving Memory
of
Brutus Edward Smith
2009-2011
Brutus, you were a good fish.  You brought color and happiness to our life.  Even though you were only with us for a short while, you have made our home a better place.  You were a joy to have and we are thankful you got to be with us.  May you swim in large, clean pools of water, with lots of friendly fish and plenty of delicious worms to snack on.  Rest in Peace my friend.

A candlelight vigil was held in honor of Brutus

He was placed in a customized coffin, complete with an ornament sealed with x's and o's.

His casket was then engraved with his name and lifespan.

The viewing was attended by those closest to him.  Alex, Savannah, and Liz.  A moment of silence was given as we all said a special prayer for our friend.

An empty bowl stands in honor of the memory of our dearly departed.
Rest in Peace.

  1. I'm sorry he died, but I'm SO glad you didn't have to flush him. So, um.... where are you gonna bury him? You don't have a yard. I'm offering mine. That way you can visit and leave flowers whenever you want.

    RIP Brutus

  2. hee hee hee. Is it too sad/creepy/bizarre to laugh about this? it's hysterical! especially all the care you took with the casket, viewing, and funeral. It totally agree with Ra that you should bury him there. Then we could all pay respects on any given day.
My condolences to you and yours on this sad, sad day.

  3. I regret to inform you that Brutus was laid to rest (with great care and delicacy) in our dumpster. I know that sounds horrible, but it was raining and he loved the water and it just felt right. But I appreciate the offers and kind words.
